I was able to trace this 20 paras Ottoman Empire stamp to an apparent issue date of Sept. 15,1876 and am curious to know if anyone has any idea of its value today. Obviously not in mint condition it was amazing to have it surface in a recent donation of internationals given to the Holocaust Stamps Project in Foxboro, MA.

re: Ottoman Empire stamp value?
Where do you find Ottoman Empire in Scott catalogs? It became so many countries...

Thanks for the feedback on the likely value. Yes, there are perfs missing....After 148 years in circulation it looks pretty darn good to me, though not worth much as a philatelic specimen.
I will pass along the history info on it - which seems to be of greater value than the stamp itself - to the middle and high school students who are working on the Holocaust Stamps Project.
Thanks for your comment and the reference info, rrr.
Much more than a few perforations missing, this is damaged.
I would not even keep it in this condition.
But please note: Damaged stamps are equally welcome in the Holocaust Stamps Project which strives to honor the memories of ALL who were lost. As "damaged (crippled, paralyzed, mentally different, etc) people" were some of the most targeted by the Nazis, they, too, were among the 11 million killed for their perceived lack of value to a perfect Aryan society.
