I just placed an order for some Hawid mounts and was told that some of the sizes had split backs. I think these are for the strips larger than 63mm vertically, or those with a "d" placed on the size code. Does anyone have any experience with the large sizes, and can tell me which have split backs? If the large sizes do, then I will probably just go with Showgard clear for the large stuff.
Hawid mounts are open on three sides. I don't see where having a split back on a Hawid mount would make much sense. The split would have to run vertically from the one closed side. I don't see what is gained there.
I have used Hawid sizes up to 63 mm vertically. and they are all top loaders, open on 3 sides as said above. I'm told by Golden Valley that the 83d and larger are split back. I wished to get confirmation on this from anyone using the large sizes.
I have a large stack of clear Hawid mounts. They are of all sizes as they are included in years sets that I am receiving from a dealer. I looked through them, and there are many mounts that are over 100mm in size. None have split backs.
UPDATE: I ordered the 90mm and 84 mm sizes. The mounts are actually sealed at top and bottom - as in a tube. I see various ways of using these, but they are absolutely not split back as I was misinformed by a dealer.
