Just this afternoon I received some Channel Islands stamps that I bought from a British dealer on eBay. Quick service, nice stamps, no problem! But I don't think I should have had to pay for postage, because…there was none! Not a stamp, no metre postage, no cancellation. Well, there is an ink jet mark, but it can't be a cancellation because there was nothing to cancel. Nor was there ever: there's not a sign that the packet was ever graced with postage. On the plus side, I am now an Esquire! Yay! (If you're wondering, all that's on the back of the packet is a return address. I've seen lots of envelopes and packets with uncancelled postage, but I think this is the first with no postage at all! I think it's a sign of the End Times.

re: Stamps from Great Britain, sans postage
A few years ago I won several SOR auctions and my Mum happened to stop by the day I was going to the post office and said not to worry, she would post them on her way home. She didn't even check that I hadn't put a stamp on the envelope.
The seller promptly received my cheque and said "interesting, it came through the post without a stamp."
Amazing, isn't it?
