Some of you may have received the email about Subways overstock sale. They are offering the 6 A to Z worldwide 2015 catalogs as a complete set for $420 dollars(i imagine plus shipping) or any individual part 1 to 6 for 70 bucks..does not sound too bad if you only need one catalog !
It must be expensive to put together a set of catalogs every year with all the new stamps of the past year or so...but with every price increase they lose more collectors. My 2012 catalogs that i purchased in 2013 for $175 bucks are still working !!
It baffles me why publishers keep producing the same same catalogues year after year .I know there are price changes and alterations, surly they could produce a catalogue of all the new stamps and an appendix for any alterations they make,or would that be too easy.
It would save a few trees.

I wish there was a way that they could start printing the catalogues on loose leaf type pages, made to fit multi ring binders. Not the type of binders with 15 or so rings, but the type that are 3 ring binders here, and 4 ring elsewhere. With an option of buying binders as well with the Scott Logo.
Then as the new issues came out each year, you would only need to buy the new pages. Maybe make it so you would be able to request only the countries that you collected if you wanted. That way for someone who collected a country with a small amount of stamps, you could put your catalogue into the back of your album and have it with you all the time if you wanted.
Also would be nice if the stamp pictures were on separate pages from all the information other then maybe the description of varieties. That never changes. But the catalogue number and prices could be on different pages and then every few years if wanted you could buy new information pages to replace the old ones for price changes. Scott wouldn't even have to offer new pages for every country if there wasn't a big change in price for the majority of the stamps.

"Stamp collectors don't go crazy, they just become unhinged."
i have never taken the opportunity to buy the single country pages that some people cut out of the catalogs and sell for a few dollars..but in the future i may go that route. It boggles the mind that dealers would go through thousands of 102 cards EVERY YEAR and revalue them..the labor would be horrific !!
I highly recommend purchasing sets of Scott pages from eBay dealers. I've purchased two such sets, one for Vietnam and the other for Algeria, at a huge savings over buying even used complete catalogues. I slipped the Vietnam pages into sheet protectors and then into a three-ring binder. For the Algeria pages, I designed and printed a simple cover on card stock and then took everything to a UPS store to be punched and bound with a Cerlock binding:
Seller Chiokmd offers several different sets of Scott 2015 pages for reasonable prices (which vary with the quantity of stamps issued by each country); the only business relationship I've had with this seller is to buy Scott pages from him. His service was excellent.
