08:39:04pm | Does anyone know if Isle of Man used the dull gum / matte gum on any of their stamps? I am not sure what the correct term for it is, but Denmark and Papua New Guinea have used, and I think the US used for a few definitives? I have some IOM stamps from 1978 in a mish mash collection I am sorting - they kind of look like the have the dull gum, but could just be no gum as quite a few stamps in the collection were completely missing gum.

Josh, for IOM 1978, I have all but the Europa issue. The gum on the landmarks definitve set is a very low gloss gum on both the major and minor numbered sets. I also have some of the landmark stamps used with no cancel. The paper on the used stamps feels very rough, while the unused stamps the gum feels very smooth. Also, Scott #137-141 have dull gum. I don't know about the Europa issue (Scott #131-136). The other commemorative sets issued at the beginning of 1978 have regular gum. I looked at a few of the 1979 issues, and they look like IOM went back to regular gum.
