Just want to let you know about a weird thing that happened today in the Approval Books. Grorod wrote to me about this:
1. Tuscany4me purchased Book 2400 Book 3 Item 13 at 13:09:35
2. cjmajor purchased the rest of Book3 at 15:00:45 and it has processed the whole page twice except for Item 13, where it has only processed it once.
Grorod will sort this out with her buyers, but I want to ask you all to watch for this type of thing. If you see it please let me know. At the moment I don't have a good answer for what has caused this but I really want to work it out with your help.
Maybe the second buyer opened the same page on two separate browser windows, and submitted "Purchase Whole Page" from each window once.
If your program has good "lock and check", it can prevent this type of things.
Tim, do you remember I had something very similar to this more than half a year ago? You wrote to me then you had made some minor changes in order to avoid this from happening again.
Yes, you are right Jan-Simon, I had a vage memory of that issue last night when I was looking into the problem. Thanks for reminding me. To fix the problem that you had, I added a locking mechanism to stop this type of problem from happening. Gro is sorting out the problem with the two bidders. We'll have to keep monitoring the situation.
