Hi everybody, my name is Jesse. I am disabled from chronic lyme disease. Not much I can do anymore but do enjoy stamp collecting, model ship building & Bible study. I collect mainly U.S. & Canada but do have some older worldwide. Remaking my own pages & stamp albums for my U.S. stamps. Including as much info as possible. Look forward to getting/sharing info (such as issue dates, etc.) with other collectors here.

I'm sorry to hear about your disability. I live in a very woodsy area. No neighbors except at deer season. Only have dirt roads, not even good gravel. I like the wildness of this place. I heat with wood only.
This is not the lifestyle for everyone. You must be very self reliant to live out here. I have lived thru one of the worst tick seasons ever (Spring 2013). This year the ticks are bad but not like last year. They are all nymphs, the smaller ticks. They can't lay eggs until morphing to adults. So next year maybe they won't be as bad.
I guess climate change is really here for good. Don't think anyone knows just what effects will play out.
Everywhere I go I must be aware of my surroundings. I live out here alone with my cat. I have lost 9 or 10 cats in the last few years here. There are wild Eurasian boar pigs, cougars, black bears, coyotes, and many other small animals that could carry rabies. I always watch my cat for odd behavior a sure sign of the disease. People take the dangers of living in the wilderness to lightly. Many vacationers get in trouble out here due to ignorance of the risks.
People who disappear without a trace, probably were in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you are being stalked by a cougar, you must watch your back at all times. If they are stalking, and you hear them they are only a couple seconds away. Whenever I hear something behind me, the safety strap on my sidearm is off and my hand is on the grip. I carry a 357 Magnum with 158 grain loads, the most powerful shell for that weapon available.
The rewards of living here make all that worthwhile. My favorite time is Winter with just a few inches of snow, and a full moon. The light diffused by the snow and bouncing back up is very spiritual and surreal. I love to walk thru the woods on nights like that. Predators also hunt at night, especially on moonlight nights.
I see that you like model ship building. There is a book you should get that is about wooden model ships. It is called "The Anatomy of Nelson's Ships" and is about the HMS Victory, the flagship of Lord Admiral Nelson. He defeated the French at Trafalgar, but took a musket ball to the shoulder and died there. It has incredible detail for building the Victory at the scale of 1/4" to-the-foot, truly a museum quality model.
Well gotta go, time to pick wild huckleberries, they are everywhere here this year!!
Hey Jesse, welcome aboard. You have at least found a couple of good hobbies to help pass the time and take your mind off of other less pleasant things. Yes, please do share some of your home made pages with us, many of us enjoy them.

I know others who have been disabled by Lyme. I've had it, and my symptoms were NASTY. But that may have saved me.
Love the covers; i have a large accumulation of the 65 and its variants. I started when I realized (duh!) the correlation between them and Civil War units. Many were in dollar boxes, just awaiting a little scrutiny.
