I'm a beginner at collection stamps; however, I have been saving stamps for sometime. I began organizing the stamps that I've accumulated over the years ( started organizing the last 2 yrs.) and after looking at various forums, I like what I see here! I've been looking to join for the past year but didn't want to get my feet wet but, I decided to take the plunge. Happy I do not have much knowledge on stamps but I do like to research unknown stamps. It keeps my busy and out of my wife's hair! The odd thing about the stamps is that the majority (95%) of the stamps that I have were free. When I was working I noticed that the pawnshop unit was receiving the returns with stamps from the 30's and 40's and I asked the guys to save them for me. They did and I was also getting quite a lot foreign stamps. Most of these stamps are pre-1970. These stamps were put in bags, placed in a box and basically forgotten.

I moved out of Baltimore and a few years back met an avid stamp collector who gave me some advice on sorting etc. and I got bit by the bug. I'm hoping to learn more about collecting and hopefully include my 2 cents, if I'm wrong, I'll apologize now, but you only learn some things by doing them. If I become a pest, let me know but I'm usually quiet. Yawn I'm looking forward to being a member.

Welcome. You have just taken the most important step in your collecting adventure! I find talking to other philatelists is the most rewarding way to get and share information.

Welcome, Frank. Beginner, not-so-new-at-this, and old hand, we are all here for the same reason, we love stamps! So step up to the plate, take some swings, but never fear to ask for coaching advice.
