I wondered what method others were using for the images for their Approval Books.
I tried just scanning as a photo but the file always comes out too large to upload.
The only solution I've worked out is this
1. Scan the page to produce a PDF
2. Open the PDF on my screen filling it as much as I can and take a screen shot using the sniping tool.
3. Upload the image created by the sniping tool to my approval book.
Does anyone know a less convoluted way? I see images that are larger on screen than what I am able to come up with but don't know how to create them.
What program do you use to make the scans?
I use Adobe Acrobat, make one combined file as a pdf for as many pages as I have prepared and then "save as" jpeg's. The result is a bundle of individual jpg files that can be used for uploading to the site.
I would download and install Irfanview (free software that works real nice).
You can scan at probably 200 dpi resolution and get away with it. Or you can scan at a higher resolution, then resize the image to a smaller size, maintaining a nice scan quality, but reducing the file size.
Meghan,
Just a couple of guidelines to go by. When scanning single stamps, scan at 300dpi. When scanning covers, scan at 100dpi. These two rules will cover most situations.
