I normally avoid US FDCs but when it comes to the back of the book, I have a weak spot for them. The Cachet is a fun one, and one I have never seen (though I am hardly an expert on cachets).
I also just noticed that if you look closely at the envelope pictured in the stamp, it has the same postage that is on this FDC. Stampception here we come.
Nice find and even better observation! I doubt I would have noticed the franking but I am sure it was purposeful on the part of the FDC sender. Makes for an interesting piece.

Like you I only dabble in FDCs, and collect only what I like. And that one I like!

I also collect special delivery and, especially, air mail special delivery FDCs. I actually prefer them postally used, and the more obscure the destination, the better.

I have a bunch of plain old FDCs, including ones with BOB stamps. When I see some of the covers posted on this site, I'm super jealous! Where do you all find these exciting covers?

Lisa, I find tons of FDCs in the dealers' dollar bins (often half that price). I usually get the SDs and AMSDs there, and occasionally the odd AM booklet or other oddity.
contact me privately if you want me to become your supplier dude (philatelic pusher man)
