Now here is one you might find lurking in your collection.
It is the fairly common Hindenburg occupation stamp.

The Original:

Compare to above.
Fake Overprint 1:
Image Not Found
Thick Lettering Type- Note the “L” in Luxembourg has a distinct upwards slope and is misshaped. The “e” in Luxembourg also has a flat top.

Fake Overprint 2:
Image Not Found
Thin lettering type - Note the “u” in Luxembourg is reversed

Any overprints in light purple are fakes.
The release date of these was Oct. 1, 1940, (postmarks from September are known but uncommon.) Any Overprints with a postmark before Oct. 1, 1940 should be carefully examined.

re: Hindenburg issue overprinted for the Occupation of luxembourg Forgery

Thank you again, "Revstampman".

I have a complete set of these overprints, plus some duplicates.
Will check tomorrow to see if any should be moved to my album
of fakes, forgeries, facsimiles, reprints, copies and dubious stamps.
