I found on the ground today a stamp that I finally figured out to a Peruvian stamp with Pres Nicolas de Pierola on it. According to what I've found it was produced in 1897. That doesn't seem right. Could the sites I visited mean that 1897 is the year of the president and NOT the year the stamp was produced.
Is this worth anything that would make me trying to find its owner worthwhile. I know it may have sentimental value for its owner so actually I think I'd like to try to find the owner in any case.

re: Pres Nicolas de Pierola stamp
If this stamp was in perfect condition the catalogue value is $0.40. In this condition it is worth virtually nothing.
