Joe was my oldest friend and a lifelong stampcollector..since we rode the schoolbus together in the 1950s..Joe could be a very rough boy..but he was a quick study and knew so much on so many subjects..never a dull moment when he was around. A lot of us miss you !!
I was re-organising all my old greeting cards I received from people over the years... and there was the card that Joe's family sent me. I still think of him.

Joe WAS a great one: the exterior of one of his beloved bulls or rams (he ran with the bulls in Paloma until almost the very end; and wrestled rams for a living, filing off their horns when they grew long enough to start moving to their wearers' eyes) but the interior of the sweetest faerie.
He hated the UN, not because it tried for world peace or love, but because it failed so miserably. He hated FDR for the same reason, wishing the New Deal had gone farther, damning Roosevelt for not extending it further. He hated the Poles, too, being a Pollack himself. Anyone guess what the jewel of his collection is?
My daughter loved Joe because Joe so obviously loved her and all the children who'd wander into the stamp club.
Joe was the best beast there ever was.
I had intended to give this envelope to Joe; he liked scantily clad women, and he loved the bulls.
