Hi Richaard
My old Barefoot's list it 1882 crown CA perf 14 #14 cat £5-00 in 1984.If it's a perf 12 it is not listed The 1883 issues are only overprinted Revenue.
Hope this helps.

Brian,
Thanks
Appears to be 14 x 14
What do you think ₤5.00 from 1984 is now?

re: St. Lucia: revenue stamp identification

Hi Richard
The stamp is listed in my 2007 S.G.Commonwealth & British Empire Stamps 1840-1952.They list it as F16 and guess what it's value according to Gibbons is £4-00 ?????
I think we need someone with an updated Barefoot's Commonwealth Catalogue to see if there is any change in value.
I think Lee has just got a new copy ,she would be the one to ask.

re: St. Lucia: revenue stamp identification

According to the Consumer Price Index, something that cost $1.04 in 1984 costs $2.30 today.
So, a price of a crisp $5.00 bill of 1984 converts to about $11.50 today, except for petrol at the pump. The pump price of gasoline is so subject to speculation, politics and threats of war it is on its own track.

Using the same charts, $2.08 in 2007, converts to about $2.30 in 2012, so I think that something listed at £4.00 ought to be around £4.50 today. And with the £/$ being $1.60 to one, a little over $7.00 should be fair.

Lee,
Can you tell me the Barefoot price for St.Lucia this stamp.
Also, cancel looks like a postal cancel rather than a revenue. Nice smack-on-nose.
Thanks.
