Mystic just came out with a new style of album that has hingles pages. Now had I known of this before purchasing the albums I would have gone that route but will ask first is this a good deal at 70 dollars per album.
Ok anyone in the market for a 3 album U.S. set?
You can make your own album's hingless, just the way they do, for a lot less money. Just cut the Showgards to fit the space where the stamps belong. You can use either clear backing, or the black backing, whichever suits you. Unless you have absolutely steady hands you will need to use a cutter to trim the Showgards. Otherwise they will not look nearly as neat as the ones they manufacture.

Mike that is a good idea, I will have to try making a hinge less album with the extra sets of pages I have. The American Heirloom Mystic album I bought came with 3 binders but I ended up using 8 binders once I started adding stamps to the pages and Vario pages. The binders Mystic sent are just the cheap vinyl ones with real artificial gold embossed lettering. Since the page hole patterns are standard 3 ring binder size and I used to do leather work I may attempt to make my own binders soon.
The American Heirloom albums do not include pages for revenues or US territories which was a little bit of a disappointment.
Mystic is selling the hingeless albums for US$69.95 per volume including the binder. I am curious to know if you really can do it yourself cheaper, plus how much extra time it would take? I know other brands are a lot more expensive, in the US$200-300 dollar range per volume if you include a binder and dustcase.
I have a USA 1847-1936 Lindner hingeless album that I love, but I cannot justify spending the money for the later Lindner volumes for USA as they cost more than stamps they would hold. The Mystic hingeless look extremely interesting to me for the price - the mounts seem to be sealed a just the bottom, where I would prefer a solid black backed space with the mount sealed at the bottom and both sides.
I noticed it on the web. If you like Mystic's design and layout, then it is probably cheaper than doing it on your own. I don't care for Mystic's layout, but aside from Lindner and DAVO they are the only game in town. Amos is no longer publishing the Scott hingeless albums.
Personally, I have developed an interest in the Scott Hingeless binders. I have purchased two collections housed in Scott Hingeless albums. I really wasn't buying the stamps, but I want the binders. I think they are classy.
