What website is the best site to purchase stamps from is a matter of preference. The American Philatelic Society, if you are a member, sells stamps online. Stamporama has an auction page where there are plenty of stamps to purchase. Other sites, like BidStart and StampHead offer stamps as well. There are plenty more websites out there. Do internet searches to find them and see what you like best.
I buy most of my covers and stamp on-line, and most of them probably from eBay. The only caution I would suggest is to avoid dealers who don't provide good descriptions and/or images of what they're selling, and especially avoid those who use weasel words like "LOOK!" and "RARE!". You should also check the feedback that eBay sellers get, and avoid anyone whose positive feedback isn't at or very close to 100%.
You don't mention if you collect covers, but if you do you can't go wrong by browsing through the offerings of Roy Lingen, who generously hosts Stamporama on his server. To go to Roy's web sites, click on the "Buckacover.com" ad in the upper right corner of this page.
I do collect topical covers so I will have a look for sure.
Thank you gentlemen.
Today is a big day for me, I started a new album, creating my own pages for the first time. I will celebrate with a fine Cuban rum and some online stamp purchases!
Hi Garner
We have a topic in this discussion board where you can list the stamps that you are wanting to obtain thru trading or purchase. The best way would be to refer to them by catalog number. Members who can assist with those particular stamps will contact you. Hope this helps.
Hi Garner, I find that if you list your wants, folks here will post them for you, if they have them. Let us know.
as to my own sources, I am mostly a cover collector, and I purchase from eBay and SOR. I have purchased from StampOffers, but find little of interest there. I also purchase from Roy's BuckACover with great relish. I've tried other online sources but never made it to checkout.
In the physical world, I wait for the local NYC stamp shows so I can visit Al Tohn, coverman, and browse through his bargain bins. Great fun.
David
