HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA Gotcha!!! This is just another world famous Mystery Stamp Quiz. There is a little difference in the fact that all of the clues are the same size (just a whisker over 1/2 inch, on my screen), without any magnification and are all straight on scans (no repositioning of the scan). An additional change would be that if anyone that can guess the Scott number or identify it by year and actual subject, within three clues will win $10 credit towards any of my auction lots, so put your thinking caps on and you may have Christmas in September. HO HO HO! Wait, that sounded like the Jolly Green Giant to me.
Oh well, good luck y'all. By the way, EVERYONE is elegible to win.

OK, six hours have gone out the window and not even a guess. Sad situation we have here.
Let's try for clue #2 and see if that will spark a guess or two.

If you were quick, you got to see a different clue than what this one. I switched it out, from clue #2 to clue #4.

This stamp issuing entity has never changed it's name, at least since it issued it's first stamp.

Time for me to get my beauty sleep, so it's nighty night for me, very shortly.

Good luck.........

Is it the U.S. Christmas 1972 Santa Claus (Scott #1472)?

UH OH, it looks like I need to extend that offer for the bonus, to 5 clues instead of 3, since we don't have the first guess, or even a remark, yet! Here is a clue that might help to at least identify the issuing country.

From 1778, "name of country here" was used on the country's bills of exchange, and has been the official name ever.

OK, now for another visual clue:

I think Jill guessed it right after only two clues...

OMG, how did I miss Jill's guess? Talk about asleep at the switch.
Yes, yes, yes, Jill has done it again and in only two clues. That is really an awesome feat, Jill. And, to top it off, it was the first and only guess for this quiz.

I don't see how anyone could figure out that stamp from those two tiny little clues, but Jill managed to do just that. That was quite an accomplishment, Jill.

Wow, I now owe you for two super wins of the MSQ and $15 credit towards any of my auction lots.

Thanks also go to Jan-Simon for waking me up and alerting me to the fact that Jill had already guessed the correct stamp, even before I even inserted the third clue.

Great job there, Jill.

And I don't even collect US stamps!
Actually it was the green edging that reminded me of that Christmas stamp.
Thanks Mike for putting up another puzzle so soon.
I am keeping an eye on your auction offerings.

Jill you must be a whiz when doing jigsaw puzzles picking out all the pieces to make the big picture of the subject puzzle.

I wish, Liz.
My husband gave me a large jigsaw puzzle about 4 Christmases ago. It is still sitting in our spare room, half finished (but I have filled in the frame).

re: Another stamp ID quiz

Well, I finally spent nearly all of the $15 dollar credit before Christmas in Mike's auctions. There was some very interesting Commonwealth stuff available in his lots. The 40-odd stamps arrived last week, in good nick and as described. I just wanted to publicly thank Mike for his generosity in running these competitions and giving prizes.
Well done!
Jill
