Ah,,,to tell a story, requires more data. which oldest cover? Stampless, affixed stamp cover, prestamped cover, world wide, certain country,or does letter sheet count too. Ceasar often sent letter sheet(scroll ) with his seal closeing it. Does pigeon mail count? Or are we talking postal authority sactioned mail only? I'd love to hear about all of the above. TOM

re: Oldest US Cover
Okay, I do not have the story on the cover itself but the letter was handed to me by a customer as a "gift" because she knew I was a stamp collector. Her mother was a collector. Of course I immediately told her it had value and eventually purchased it from her. The letter inside is dated April 12th 1850. Unfortunately the letter was folded but due to the blue cancel and double imprint cancel I thought it worth having. Anyway, I'll start this thread with my oldest US cover, US #1. Perry

I am in awe over all these covers. I think I missed the boat, I have been collecting, hoarding, stockpiling, etc, etc, etc for 60 years and never got interested in covers. I can only imagine what I could have if I had interest in them 60 years ago. I have some, but round file stuff compared to these. Accolades to all of you for seeing the historical value. Speechless I am.....
