Can anyone recommend a good program for creating album bages. Does it have images for all the country stamps and does it include obscure countries? Do you need a special printer for heavy cardstock and wider pages?

re: Album Page Software

Hi Kevin,
There is a wealth of information in the previous discussions just Bob said above. Go to the Search option to the left of the screen, under Utilities. In the search criteria enter "album pages" (with the double quotes). You we see a lot of great discussion there.

To shorten your search, have a look at the following websites:

"Bill Steiner's Album Pages"

"AlbumEasy"

I have a subscription to Bill Steiner's website. His pages are great.

I particularly like the AlbumEasy program. It enables you to create your own album pages anyway that you want, so you can allow space for as many varieties as you want, or you can group the stamps together in any combination that pleases you.

Hope this helps.

Regards ... Tim.

re: Album Page Software

Just come across something which is somewhat like Adobe Pagemaker(costly software) which is totally free. It's an open source software called 'Scribus'. It is available for free download here (a 70 MB file) it is for 32bit/64bit Windows, Mac OS/X, Mac OS/2:
http://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/Download

Try it, the more you use it the easier it becomes although it is has shortcomings. There are lots of video tutorials on 'you-tube'(just Google the subject) and also on the download page.

There is a fellow on another board that has done some fantastic work using Scribus and has semi-automated the page creation process using scripting, check it out here:

This guy has created plugins for Sribus which creates Album Pages quickly, here is what he says about his creation:
The PMGS Stamp Album Page Generator for Scribus v1.04
Requirements -- Scribus and OpenOffice/LibreOffice. It 's been tested on a Mac with Scribus v1.4.1 and OpenOffice v3.4.1., and on a PC with Scribus v1.4.2 and OpenOffice v3.4.1.

This is a topic often addressed in many areas of the DB. I have taken the liberty of placing a link to this discussion in the Links section so that, in the future, when someone wants to know what resources are available online, they can go directly to this discussion.

Therefore, I request that members who do design, create and print their own custom pages please review the posts in this thread, and if you have a recommended link that has not been referenced, please post it here. Don't worry if you cannot activate the link, I (or another moderator) will activate it for you.

Thanks for your help.

Good one Bobby. I have to search older messages to post my take on Scribus.
