Hi Everyone, I just want to put out a request to our Auction sellers from the put of view of a buyer. Could you please start the title of the Auction lot with the country that is applicable to the lot? If I don't have a lot of time to look through all the lots, I look at the new lots, especially the last 30 posted, and the lots closing in the next 24 hours. Looking at lots in these views doesn't give me the category. If you are assuming "US" when you are posting, it doesn't come across in these views.
I'm mainly a BC collector, I'd really like to buy your stamps, it would just help to be able to find them easily.
re: Use the country name in the auction title; information on copying lots
I agree with Tim. I've noticed a definite "U.S.-ocentric" viewpoint in the listings of many U.S. lots that aren't identified, anywhere, as U.S. stamps or covers. It would be a shame for both buyer and seller if a lot went unsold just because of a lack of simple identification.
re: Use the country name in the auction title; information on copying lots
It appears that I'm the guilty party.sorry, but the category is "United States Of America" guys. what actually bugs me is someone listing a Brazil or China stamp in the US category. what can I say ,I'm a slow typist as is and trying to get as much listed as possible in the time I have. In addition my picture thingee is twice as slow as my old computer. However, I will try to put US on my titles in the future.

Stampaholic,
Are you using the duplicate auction lot when posting? If you use that and are listing many US stamps together in the same condition, then all you have to do is change the catalogue number. All the other information is retained. It is a major time saver.

Holy perforation! Batman! Didn't even know about that! Been listing each lot individually. where's that thing at? BTW Guys & gals: just finished correcting everything that I thought was any kind of error or omission. I did this in appreciation of all the good people here and all the great bids you are giving me on my stuff.

When you say "last 30 lots listed" are you referring to the 'All New Items' tab shown at the top of the auction page or is this something else that I've missed?

Stampaholic,
When you get to the final page, you have 4 buttons at the bottom. Cancel - Edit - Complete Posting - Complete Posting and Copy. Select the 4th button. It will retain all the information from the previous listing. Just edit as necessary.
You mentioned seeing a Brazil or China in US. That probably happens when someone is listing US and then switches categories and uses the duplicate item function and forgets to change the category. Has happened to me several times. I'm sure they are not doing it intentionally.
re: Use the country name in the auction title; information on copying lots
Tim et al.,
this is a great forum for these requests. Like mr. Holic, I, too, am a guilty party, assuming the pictures and/or categories will do much of the work because that's the way I shop, but, worse than Americentric, I can barely get past my own nose.
I have been using the copy function often, and find it a great gift to my similar lots.
and congratulations to the listers, we've been maintaining at or above 1000 lots with fair consistency for several weeks. and thanks to your buyers, too, for the periodic bids that reinforces the continued lists.
One last comment, I've really enjoyed seeing how the lots are broadening, becoming ever more unusual, like the APS convnetion cinderella in one of the unloved lots, the nice selection of Disney war-time patriotic poster cinderellas, the great increase in country-specific mixtures, especially heavy in China and Israel right now, but other countries at other times, and so much more. I think all this is possible due to Tim's efforts to make the auction more FUNctional and all the care most listers are putting into providing us with great options. thanks one and all.

Re: Brazil & China listings. Was using that as an example.didn't know about the duplicate listing thingee when I posted that. am sure it was unintentional as I have done that many a time on other sites when listing a bunch of the same category, then switching categories and forgetting to change the title. That's kind of what I did with my US here.I scan my pic, put a title on it, then when I list it, I just use the same title from my photo gallery as the title on the listing (as I said to save time). Another reason I corrected all my listings. If I can get that duplicate listing thing to work , it will save me lots of time and get many more listings on.

Many thanks to all for the excellent help. Think I've figured out that copy & post thing. (Thank goodness too, my listing is almost as long as the healthcare bill (OK, y'all, it's just a joke, no politics involved, it's just a joke). You know, lol. Say what about smilies? But I digress, Anyway. Again Thanks.

I don't know if any sellers noticed but now you can copy and edit any of your listings directly from another of your listings. Just bring up one of your auctions and at the bottom of the listing there is a copy and edit button. You must be signed in to see these buttons. Thanks again to Tim for adding this functionality.
