re: Austria
Just curious about something. I don't collect any recent stamps since way too many are produced. I heard of someone who is trying to keep a current World collection going using Scott's International albums and has to buy a new one every year. Anyway, my question, what is the value of personalized stamps? None of my catalogs are new enough to look them up, so I really have no idea!
Harvey, not sure that they have a value to anyone other than the folks who purchased them. At the end of the day it is what someone is willing to pay.
I'm sure some folks do collect them but unless the issuing postal authorities keep a record of each one how will anyone ever know what is available. Catalogue issuers will likely ignore them as they did the dunes stamps.
Personally they are a money making gimmick/fad that will probably die a death at some point, definitely not for me.
Thank you for the responses. Yes it is most likely a personalized stamp.
Scott has listed some for some countries, but is not very constant.
If I get them I keep them as a novelty.

re: Austria
When I first heard about them I figured that Scott's would give a value and a number to the generic stamp - sort of like putting a value on a picture frame. I guess this is not the case since I have never seen one listed anywhere for sale.
I'm sure some of you have seen these ads selling very rare stamps. They are just personalized stamps. Sure he printed 500 of them and for sure they are rare! But at the prices they wanted for them? Like PT Barnum said years ago, "There's a sucker born every minute!"
