Approvals
I found this stamp in my collection recently and the Scott catalog lists it as #1204. However, upon closer examination, the inverted background seems different than all of the different images I found in my catalogs and on the internet. The background on this stamp seems to be "shifted" downwards. Why is this?

Thanks,
Lin Jiang

It looks very much like a typical 1204.

There are 2 or three different varieties of the yellow depending on the stamp location within the pane and whether the pane is left or right position in the sheet of 200. 4 diff panes, UL, UR, LL and LR. Fun to find all in used condition.

Linns Stamp News had a series of articles about this invert. I can send scans of the article(s) to anybody interested via email. Put Stamporama on subject line.
