When i recently went to Windows 10 i lost the scanner program from windows 7 that i was comfortable with. with my new "free" windows fax/scan program i am not able to crop my scan and i get the whole page scanned with my itty bitty stamp scan almost lost on it. Its probably something very simple but i do not see it right now...very frustrating !

Phil, download Irfanview and you can do that very simply and on one screen. Also create panoramic images vertically or horizontally, rotate etc mostly at the touch of a key.
Could you not preview on the scan and then crop before actual scan?

Thanks Vic, i did not notice any difference between preview and scan.. i thought it might be a problem between the program and my old Canon scanner. Will see how i make out with Irfanview.

Phil, usually on the scan preview there are dotted lines around the image. Going to the centre of those brings up an arrow and by dragging the line allows the cropping of the image. The scanner then only scans that section for the saved scan.
With Irfanview you can crop the image by clicking on the screen and draw a box around the part you wish to keep. Then using control and Y it selects just that part. Control and R allows you to resize (to say 900 pixels) Control S allows you to save the resultant image.
I always save the initial scan, adjust size and then add a suffix to the file name to save cropped images. Easier to upload to Stamporama.
Just remember to save all images as jpegs.
