Harvey I think, therefore I am - I think! 14 Jan 2021 06:23:52pm
Am I the only one watching the 2021 Snooker Masters on YouTube? I know it's never really been an American thing, but about 30, or so, years ago Canada had as many as five players on the British professional tour. They even won major tournaments and even a World title (Cliff Thorburn). The same Canadian even had the first perfect score (147)in the World Championship. I love the game and played for many years - I was OK, but not really good. I'm a huge follower of Ronnie O'Sullivan, probably the best player the game has ever seen! Does anyone out there even have a clue what I'm going on about? Get with it - it's a fantastic game to watch or even play!
Edit: By the way, the World #1 player right now is actually a Trump - Judd Trump. Please do not make this into a political statement, I'm just making a comment! If you were to make me do word association and say "Trump", I would say Judd!! I follow snooker much more than politics!
Harvey, I remember being glued to the screen watching this back in 1985, An absolutely fabulous match that literally went to the last ball. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZSky37NGno
Steve Davis against Denis Taylor
that was a legendary match! It was around that time when I first learned of snooker and started watching it on BBC (still with whispering Ted Lowe doing the commentary). Nowadays I watch it occasionally, sometimes on Eurosport.
Funny trivia: Steve Davis is now very much into progressive rock and avant garde music, doing a fair bit of dj-ing...
I think I remember the story of Dennis Taylor's oversized glasses. He had found that by wearing his normal glasses upside down he had a better view of the balls than when wearing them the right way. He got the special glasses so as not to look too weird
