I believe the stamp is a newspaper wrapper, first issued in this colour from 1894. The stamps were printed in sheets of eight which were cut up. I think the yellow line is a border line from the sheet. Nice cancellation. This is the old post office where your stamp was probably cancelled.

Correct, it is from a newspaper wrapper:

(the different pattern behind the Queen's head is a "Moiré pattern"
caused by interference between the lines of the scanner and the lines of an engraved background).
