My cut off for Ireland is 1955 so according to Scott's there were only 4 coils to pick up. I checked out an on line stamp site to pick one up, so I searched Ireland coils. I noticed a fair number of the early overprints were called coils. They didn't seem to be singled out in Scott's and seemed to have two opposite sides with cut perfs. I know some must be coils since one strip of four had a paper leader. They are not given separate values in Scott's but I'm wondering if the specialized catalogs give a value. Also I assume paste-up-strips must exist and probably are more valuable. I wonder if any Ireland expert could comment on these coils - identification and possible value.
The coils were the stamps overprinted by Harrison. They were sent to Harrison in England because none of the Irish printers had the experience to print on the coil format.
I don't have access to a Scott Catalogue, but I believe that they are Scott 19 - 22 and 59 - 62.

re: coils for Ireland
Thanks Clive! Once I knew which stamps to look at, thanks to you, the comments are there in Scott's. I actually have some of them but had no idea they were coils. There's not much that the people in SoR don't know. It's great to have easy contact with so many knowledgeable people - a group of experts indeed!!!

re: coils for Ireland
Thanks Tom. I'm a new Ireland collector, only a few months now. I'll check out your suggestions.
Edit: I just checked Scott's and the only one I'm not familiar with is 64b and that's a bit out of my price range. I have a couple of the others and am interested in the rest, Have a great week and thanks for the help.
Ireland also issued coils perfed on all sides. These were constructed using “paste up” joints. The gerl coils have different watermarks, but some coils are indistinguishable once separated. But the edge perfs sometimes can be a clue

re: coils for Ireland
I would love to run into an Ireland "paste up strip". The only example I have is Canadian and quite rare - it is a paste up strip of four containing two each of MR7 and MR7a, Scott's gives it the number MR7v for a strip of two. It's one of my best pieces and I look at it often. How many of you have a favourite stamp or two that you look at often? Most of us long time collectors have a favourite treasure or two. That strip, and a NS #4 and #3a (bisect) tied to a piece of cover are mine, what stamps do you look at often? It's not the value, it's the fact that you have something rare, maybe almost unique.
