I think I've tried this before. Does anyone know of a catalogue that lists and gives values for the early Poland local stamps prior to 1918. I don't care whose numbers are used, I'd just like to have some way to categorize and date them.

re: Early Poland Local stamps
Just ordered book from AbeBooks for $41 USD. I'll let you know how useful it is when it arrives. It's the earlier edition and some of the pages reproduced on line makes it look like exactly what I want. I have about 20 of the locals. Does anyone else out there collect them? How hard are they to find? I'm not very good at doing my own pages so I'm curious if an album exists, I doubt if it would be huge. Any advise?
For what it's worth, it looks like the Michel volume that covers Poland (Band 7 - Osteuropa (Eastern Europe)) also lists the Poland locals of that same era in a separate section near the end of the Poland listings.
To tie it into the album question, perhaps some European album makers include the locals in their Poland albums.

re: Early Poland Local stamps
I use the Minkus album and it has a fairly good BOB section, but nothing with the local issues. I'm not sure how easy they are going to be to find, so I'll probably just use a page or two in a stock book - probably the same one I use for my Swiss and Dutch officials that cover League of Nations, UN offices and The Hague. If anyone out there has some pages that cover Polish Locals, maybe you could drop me an E-mail and we could work something out!
I use the Fischer catalogues, a tad difficult at times as my Polish is very poor. They do give a lot of information and show how to differentiate between genuine issues and forgeries.
As for availability they aren't too hard too find but watch out for forgeries. I have a whole collection of forgeries. There are usually a few on ebay, mostly post WW2 overprints which are almost always fakes, but they go cheap and make an interesting collection in their own right. Sometimes they go for huge prices and there must be a lot of collectors out there who have more money than sense and don't really know what they are buying.
Here is a handy site, that carries a lot about Polish Locals:

re: Early Poland Local stamps
I got my book "Poland 1918 Locals" by J. Barefoot Ltd. (1999) in the mail today. It looks really interesting and most of the listed prices seem very reasonable. Some evening when my patience level is HIGH I'll check out the ones I have. On first glance it seems to include several of the early Poland overprints as well.
