The following questions pertain to the Scott listing of New Zealand’s “Commerce” issue.
For Scott 131 (1909 - 12), is the associated watermark #61?
For Scott 177 (1925), the series header indicates “Unwmk”. However, there is also a note: “Types of 1905 - 15.
NZ and Star ‘watermark’ printed on back, usually in blue”.
So is Scott 177 “unwatermarked”? Watermark 61? Or something different again?
Beyond confusing, is the Scott notation (simply) incorrect?
131 watermark #61, this is by default of not being changed from previous watermark designation on #122.
177 paper is unwatermarked but the NZ and star are printed on the back of stamp.
Just be thankful that they do not list all the various papers as Gibbons does or all the various shades.

Now sorting through a pile of 1935 “Maori Council House” issues. Believe I am finding perf varieties not listed in Scott. (Or perhaps it’s time to put away the perf gauge and get out the wood burning set!)
