I believe the date is March 7, 1919 (which fits perfectly for this stamp). The town cancel I believe sports the name of Arzburg (ARZBVRG). It is addressed to Metz in the Lorraine, in what is now France.
On the cover a script on a separate piece of paper was taped to it. I recognize it as old German which my great grandfather wrote and understood, but I am afraid I cannot read it. Can someone translate it?
I have been looking for a cover from communist Bavaria for years and am so happy to have gotten one, even if the cancel is light.
