My brother (who lives in Zwolle, the Netherlands) just pointed out to me that Canada Post recently issued a stamp commemorating Léo Major, who played an important role in the liberation of Zwolle at the end of WW2. As the press release puts it "In April 1945, while scouting the German-occupied Dutch town of Zwolle, Private Leo Major singlehandedly tricked the enemy into thinking they were under a full attack, capturing dozens of prisoners and forcing the Germans to retreat, which earned him the Distinguished Conduct Medal and the lasting gratitude of the people of Zwolle."
The stamp shows the socalled Sassen-gate in Zwolle on the background.
Would any of the Canadian members here be willing to trade this stamp? We would very much like to get hold of at least one copy :-)
Thank you all for your offers to help and advice.
It is all very much appreciated. But please know that I did not ask this with the intention to get a stamp for free. If there is anything I can do in return please let me know.
