Hello from UPSTATE New York!
I am a new collector, interested in worldwide stamps issued up to 12/31/1969.
My mother-in-law got me into this hobby. My wife and I would pick up stamp albums at flea markets, auctions, and yard sales for her, and I got hooked on them myself!
She collects USA, but I preferred the internationals, so now we split our finds. I began collecting in the fall of 2019, so I arbitrarily decided to limit myself to stuff 50+ years old (at the time).
I have a particular affinity for Africa, Oceania, and British commonwealth, but it's all interesting to me!
Not much in the way of organized trade stock, but will be interested in that once I get my "keepers" fully organized. I bit off a little more than I should have to start, so I'm still sorting stuff I intend to keep.
Philb,
So I'm not entirely crazy collecting world to 1969! (Or we both are......)
I spent about 5 years in the Newburgh area, so we also have that connection.
musicman,
yep, I've been in auto parts for nearly 25 years! Currently at a dealership, but I put in most of my time as an aftermarket counterman/manager. I see you're a tech!
My dad was a Detroiter, so I am also a (casual) Tigers fan. I have a framed set of a dozen 1951-52 Bowman Tigers cards hanging in my office, all that's left from my baseball card days... I had the opportunity to meet Al Kaline at a minor league game in the 80's. He was my dad's childhood hero!
Dad turned me on to Detroit muscle cars, the Tigers, and Vernor's.... he left me quite the legacy!
so Randy and Tom are near Twins (not those Minnesotans, neither; that's Auld Twim). Amazing to have so many things in common, and then share Beacon/Newburgh with Phil.
welcome

Partsman, i don't travel that far South too often (Newburgh)if you made a straight line on the Hudson river from Poughkeepsie to Albany that would be my world. Part of my collections is worldwide to 1969 in 10 Scott International binders...still lots of empty spaces..there are guys here who collect worldwide up to the present. I can not imagine that.
