I admit I don't keep up on new issues but I came across this stamp in a trade
I was a bit surprised and tried my limited google skills and only came up with this large image of many more Dutch Disney stamps.
I was hoping someone with a more current catalog than my 2011 or current on Dutch stamps could tell me if these are real stamps and if so something about them, how many, when issued and if they are an ongoing issue.
Hi Bob
I can't do a detailed search until tomorrow, but I do know that the Netherlands issued nearly a hundred Disney themed stamps between 2009 and 2012.
At this time I'm guessing they are legit postage for the Netherlands, but I can't verify if the issues were licensed by Disney or not. Disney has always insisted that a license would not be granted if the artwork was not up to Disney Standards. Some countries issued stamps without the permissions.
These personalised stamps are one of the main reasons why I do not collect any Netherlands issued after 2002.... there are the truly personalised ones that often contain some kind of commercial message and the vanity stamps. Apart from that PostNL created many sets one could subscribe to, such as these Disney / Donald Duck stamps. Of course with an accompanying book. It seems there is a market for them.
Let us say they try to create a market for this kind of stuff, just like they did with the commemoratives and pictorial stamps in decades past. Somewhat successfully, too, but also to the detriment of those who see stamps chiefly as payment of postage, and collect accordingly. But as King Frederick II of Prussia put it back in the 18th century: Let everyone find salvation after their own fashion ...
I found there is a special catalogue for personalised stamps, listing more than 1000 different.
yes, they do try to create a market, just as they did with FDCs, maximum cards and the like. Most of which are now dumped on the market and found to be undesirable by most collectors.

I agree, and thus the useful meme; "If something is mass produced solely for collectors,
it is not a collectable."

I was also wondering the same thing about similar dutch issues depicting wildlife, birds, butterflies. I find some of those on Ebay, but they are not listed in StampWorld.
Just like Jan-Simon I find it discouraging to keep up with them. I actually have plenty of trouble finding those recent Dutch sets of 10 that ARE listed in StampWorld.
Not much more to add. These stamps were issued in 2010 and 2011 to celebrate the 3000th issue of Donald Duck Magazine. The first stamp in the series was an official Dutch Post issue (Donald with Tool Kit). The other 35 stamps were printed by the Comic Book publisher and sold only through NLPost in sheetlets of 20 stamps.
With all those personalizaed, between quotes, stamps, I wonder how mailpeople can trust that franking is legitimate. In the past forgery was a kind of art, now its easy
