Canada/Stamps : margins for early stamps

I was at an antique auction a few years ago and there was a stamp album there with (supposedly) some very early Canadian material. None of it was identified which is typical. What threw me off was the margins for a few of the stamps. In particular there was a mint copy of New Brunswick #1 with very wide margins on all four sides. I thought this was not possible, or at least, highly improbable. NB #1-4 were printed on paper with a slight bluish tint that I can see on my copy of #1. There were repros made of these stamps that were on a white "crisp?" paper. Does anyone have copies of the three repros issued that you could photograph and post here? Also. were they printed in such a way that the margins could be larger? I know this is a difficult question...just curious.

Hi Harvey,
Check your email, I sent you a file of New Brunswick forgeries. This shows the different forgeries but does not show the paper differences I also have files for British Columbia, Nova Scotia & Newfoundland.

Thanks very much. The paper in the forgeries does have a whiter look. I think you've sent me these once before on an earlier post. I'm pretty sure I have them saved for the other provinces as well. I'll have to dig them out and print them. It's amazing the number of fakes that exist out there, probably a lot of them in collections! I feel reasonably sure about my early pieces, but it certainly makes you have another look. The fakes seem, to me, to have a different look about them but if you dirtied them up a bit it might be easier to fool someone. I told the auctioneer at the auction I mentioned that he should have a reputable dealer check them out. He gave the "buyer beware" speech and then proceeded to do fairly well on the lot. I'm sure someone local has a few surprises in the collection. Actually I'm pretty sure we all do!!!

A number of early stamps have been featured on plenty of cinderella minisheets issued for philatelic events. When I see wide margins, I think the "stamp" is more likely part of a cinderella.

Hi Harvey, Just saw this post.
Here are the New Brunswick reprints for #1-3. Note the color of #1 is similar to the original but the other 2 were printed in different colors from the original stamps.

Thanks Brian
I'm almost positive the NB#1 was a fake - they had dirtied it up a bit and it had the same unrealistic margins. I've never seen one of those early imperfs with margins that large!
