I joined last night as I love reading discussions on stamps. My two hobbies are genealogy and stamp collecting. Last year I took 5 1/2 months off to focus on the family history, specifically to scan, organize, and archive thousands of family letters (1839 on) and photos (1855 on). I decided I needed to get a real job again and being burnt out on genealogy, dove back into stamps, which I have been doing off and one for 60 years. It satisfies the best of OCD needs.
My main collecting interest is the US and am getting fascinated by the classics, although my collection is smaller for that period, so I am selectively expanding as budget allows. I do generally collect US singles, blocks and plate blocks. I enjoy organizing my own custom pages in Scott Specialty Albums. Something I have evolved into over the past 10-15 years.
I also have a backlog of Canada, Great Britain, and Panama, as well as pre-1950 world to eventually organize as my both my mother and grandfather were casual collectors. I will work various areas as I go.
I joined APS in 1975 and became a life member this year. I also joined USSS and USPCS this year to learn more.
Welcome to SOR. Hope you enjoy the many facets of the club. There are many resources to help you with your collecting.
I have friends in Lodi and enjoy your area.

my wife tolerated my stamps solely for the family histories that we could nurse from the covers. Her cousin sent a detailed history of one her forbears this Christmas.
Glad to have you on board.
