Hello,
I want to buy a stamp Saar, 1950 Scott C12 (Mi # 298)
As the starting price of the auction seemed very small, I looked for information on the net.
I found on 2 serious(?)philatelic sites these images for the stamp:
The last image drew my attention to the fact that this stamp was forged (which the site moderators do not seem to have noticed)
Please help me with what information do you know to identify this stamp or with images (good resolution) with the original or fake stamp.
No problems for me with this site.
I want to see forged?/genuine stamp or informations to detect the forged (?) stamp.
Unfortunately is not in Stamporama auctions.
Gerom,
The canceled one is a good one, the unused one FAKE. It's the wrong color (Too Brownish).
And as you noticed on the bottom of the stamp FAUX which means FAKE.
Here a scans from mine....
The more I look at the stamp, the more I have doubts about the authenticity of this cancelation.
The cancelation is unclear and I do not see anything that looks like saarland as in the cancelation of my stamp.
Thanks HockeyNut and nigelc
What surprises me is that in Michel (2011 ed.) only the postmark is reported as false.
This is the stamp I want to buy (with 8 Euros ??) and I tried to compare it with one of the HockeyNut stamps:
I drew a blue line at the top on the stamp I want to buy.
As the colors cannot help me in the evaluation I looked for differences in drawing:
What I think distinguishes the false stamps from the genuine ones I marked on the pictures:
- the horizontal line of the letter "A" has different inclinations
-The bottom of the letter "A" from SAAR are rounded to the genuine stamp.
Please KockeyNut if you have time to check if my observations are valid on the fake /genuine stamps you have.
Thank you.
Very difficult for me too (myopia -6)
The trapezoid formed by the midline of "A", side legs and the line drawn by me is different
Same for the other "A".
