Well we are off again Australia Post new issues for 2020
to kick off the new year we have"Joyful Occasions"a set of TEN stamps all bar one at the new postal rate(local) of $1-10 plus 1 x $2-20 Issued as sheet and a S/S making it $12-10 a set good start
Next we a territory issue for Christmas Island "Year of the Rat" this time we have a S/S containing 3 stamps 1 x $1-10 1 x $2-50 and 1 x $3-30 .
The we have the Lunar S/S which contains the above issues plus 12 more stamps ranging in price from 10c /50c/70c/$1-00.
There is also a sheetlet of 5 S/A of the $2-50 international stamps
Brian
Aliitle bit late I'm afraid but here they are issued on the 4th of Feb "Word of Sport " famous Australian sporting commentators.issued in sheet format 3 x $1-10 & 1 x $2-20.
This is my opinion of all the latest stamps, they are ugly, and just issued to raise revenue from stamp collectors.
Although I must admit some of the earlier decimals from the late 1960's and 70's are appealing, but unfortunately we have become a third world country when it comes to issuing modern stamps.

re: Australia Post New Issues for 2020
Hi Horamakhet
True, the stamps of recent are purely revenue makers as many years ago only a handful a year were issued, not like it is today. But as a specialised Regnal collector, as long as there are stamps issued I will add them to my collection, but they only have value if the stamps from 1953 to 1966 including varieties, errors, shades, paper type etc, and all would need to be in pristine mint unhinged condition.
Collecting only the modern issues from 1967 to the present date will not yield anything (including the $5, $10 and $20 stamps of the 1970s), they do make an interesting collection.
Though I must admit that the modern bird series are beautiful, especially the owls, songbirds, ducks and Pardalotes from Christopher Pope, and of course insects.
I will continue collecting the sheet and self-adhesive stamps as long there is a monarch, without the pre-decimal stamps I have, I would not normally be interested in the modern stamps.

On the 30th of March AP "Legends" but as of today no post offices I tried had any stock??don't know any thing about them yet as there is no information in the latested Stamp Bulletin.
The following day Ap Released a set of stamps for the AAT " Wyatt Earp Expedition 1948"set of three sheet stamps and a S/S ,stamp values are 2 x $1-10 & 1 x $3-30 and it is not an international.S/S color is not like that on the sheet ??
I have jusat been reliably informed the issue date for the Australian legends will now be the 14 of April ,and not as Australia Post advertised the 30th of March.
Brian
Back in action after another stint in hospital with Cellulitis damed nusance.

If only! Unfortunately there is a separate 10 stamp s/a booklet for each of them, as well as the usual stamp pack and Maxicards. There was no minisheet on the AP order form, or showing on AP's site today.
Today the 21st of April AP released a new set of stamps entitled "Bird Emblems "unfortunately the failed to do one for South Australia ,don't know why? six stamps all $1-10 values. Also release in individual S/A booklets. No S/S .
"There is a mating ritual of the Brolga which is a very elaborate dance, and few people have seen it."
Horamakhet, Totally agree with you the dancing display as performed by both the Brolga (Grus Rubicundus) and the Sarus Crane (Grus Antigone), which is often mistaken for the Brolga, comprising of leaps, bows, high steps and loud trumpeting is something spectacular to watch.I have seen both Brolga and Sarus in the same flock, and you need to observe the red of the head and neck to determine which is which.
Today 29th of April Australia Post released a set of stamps titled "Navigating History: Endeavour Voyage 250 Years" 10 x 55c stamps in part perfed pairs ,issued as sheet, S/S and booklet formats.
Thanks Brian for all these posts.
I'm reading the book on James Cook by Peter FitzSimons at the moment. Looks like I'll be off to the post office tomorrow to get this set. Your posting of the John Gould Bird Emblem prints last week prompted me to get those too. Some sets are visually very appealing. I'd really like to get these genuinely postally used but there's not a great chance of that happening. My kids keep any stamps they get for me but these are getting few and far between.
It is interesting to note, that Captain Cook was supposedly working from Portuguese Maps,
So he actually knew where he was going. Yes, he did do an fantastic job of mapping the East coast of Australia.
As we all know, the privateer, William Dampier, was another person the British Admiralty employed to explore the coast of Western Australian, as there had been a lot of activity in that area by the Dutch, via the East Indian Company.
One interesting fact, Cook was a little bit health conscious, and actually had a couple of his crew "flogged" for not eating boiled cabbage, drinking the water. This eating of boiled cabbage and drinking the water was one of the preventive measures to prevent scurvy on long voyages, particularly as it was hard to keep citrus fruits fresh.
Regards
Horamakhet
Running a little late with this release ,issued 19th of May four stamps (Citizen Science) all $1-10 issued as sheet stamps and each stamp as a booklet of S/A stamps.

" .... Basically that is all new issues are, money making little bits of paper with hefty prices printed on them You don't see many on normal postage.
Brian ...."
Which is why collecting postally used, if humanly possible is so interesting. Australia has a following in the USA due to the somewhat common language and similar culture. Strange animals are also a draw and for the most part the issues are at least bright and cheery, to me anyway. A literate population does help when they occasionally stoop to use attractive stamps, but as with the USA the very high values get dusty waiting for some lawyer or contractor whose FAX machine is is out of ink or malfunctioning to send a heavy parcel filled with legal documents.
Otherwise Aussie stamps would have soon been shelved along with the other Jam Jar Labels of the world.

In school biology classes, (Oh so many years ago) we were taught
that basically separate species simply cannot mate and produce
fertile offspring. Words to live by and make clinical Biology so
clear cut, until, .... yes, until we began to learn the exceptions
and realized that the differentiation is just a human construct.
Many species cannot read Biology Textbooks, so they just do what
comes naturally.
"Folks are dumb, where I come from,
They ain't got any learning.
Still they're happy as can be,
Doin' what comes naturally.
Oh, you don't have to know,
How to read or write,
When you're out with a girl,
In the pale moon light.
That comes naturally!!!...."
The more we know, the more we learn we don't know.
