have just bought a 3 volume machin collection on pre printed pages as part of a much larger purchase and did not get the binders to the pages so am trying to find out which catalogue was used....so a sample page reads "Section 5a Non Standard deign machin issues...Decimal Wildings"....and a sample catalogue "number" is WDONP47a.
Am I right in thinking this is the Machins Collectors club or is it perchance Deegam?
Is it possible you could show a scan or two of the pages? I'm wondering if it is laid out on the Connoisseur catalogue, maybe Charlie will be able to confirm.

re: Which catalogue?
My guess would be Connoisseur as they use all kinds of complex Letters to identify etamps and start with dividing issues by printer, so I think the issue described would be either Waddington or Walsal.
Deegam on h other hand groups the issues by value and color, so a 21 green woule either follow or be ahead of a 21p blue. A new issue on a 21p tangleberry yellow would be thre with all the 21p issues.

Scott ignores tagging on Machins from what I have seen. They seem to focus on print method, perforations, and value geometry (thin strokes, narrow, etc.)

re: Which catalogue?
The Sunderland Philateics is a neat list and will help with those using the SG Concise.
However this notice must mean something, is it possible that he is refering to "Postally Used ?
MINT AND USED MACHINS: WE DO NOT SELL MINT OR USED MACHINS.
It seems strange to me.

re: Which catalogue?
Brian, Being in Great Britain you would be best served
by SG's Concise until you get in deep enough to order
a Deegam Handbook Disc.
"....PS.Is there a Scott cat number for the half
pence left side band from the Wedgewood Booklet
(x842 in Gibbons)? ...."
A good question, which is not obvious at first.
To quote Al from above; "....Scott ignores tagging on Machins ..." and the
significance is that the most interesting and usually
the easiest thing to note as you sort Machins the
bands, (Or Tagging) is ignored in their "MH###" lists,
however were I to be using Scott for my list I'd use
the MH22 number of the half penny turquoise and add
"Lb, Rb , 2b, or Cb, as I went along.
Actually if you are planning on renumbering the stamps
from Connoisseur, you might be better served by jus
putting things in a color/value style similar to Deegam
now. Then simply put the year number with the stamp's
description so for the time being you would have similar
colors and values with the year " '72, '97, '06 , etc.

You get to a point where you have to draw the line on details you want to collect and there is no easy hierarchy once you get below Concise. When you start mixing EME. paper types, phosphor colors, screens, head types. sheet/booklet, coil, etc. it gets complex since each drives possible collectible stamps.
I purchased Adminware pages and created cross reference for the stamps I want to collect using page, row, column numbers and then started organizing them. I have spreadsheet now with a list based upon Adminware cross referenced to SG and then chose what I want to collect.
