But early stamps are found under French Colonies.

I don't think the stamp is a forgerie.
My method of detecting forgeries is:
1. 16 teeth on the sides = genuine
17 teeth on the sides = forging. Specific is the appearance of an exact tooth
in the corner of the stamp
2. Verify two areas in the stamp drawing
2a. Hand on the tail of the flag well shaped fingers
2b. The fruit on the tray is round and not flattened.
There are other drawing elements but I don't think they are necessary for the evaluation of your stamp

"E. Rutherford: All science is either physics or stamp collecting." Greaden 29 Dec 2019 03:12:39pmre: Reunion #41 not on Quadrille paper Quadrilles are often faint. I checked through my own 15c blues, and found some were obvious, most were apparent if I looked for them, and some I could not detect at all, including my copy of the Reunion stamp.
In the picture posted, I think I see faint traces of the quadrille around the edges, especially in the lower right corner.
