Oddly, I had one of those "racial memory" moments, obviously passed on from my mother, that made me think it was a charity stamp, and possibly "Zion". But I was too lazy to look into it further when I knew there would be experts available.
Dave, I'm still awarding you the B+ as I will have to accept the "F", even after the bell curve adjustment.
Clive gets the A+++. Surely a yeshiva boy? And a Canadian too! Double-kudos!
I'm thinking this was probably from the early 1950s, but haven't been able to track down any further info. If anyone has further insights to share it would be appreciated. I'd like to see if I can fit it into The Holocaust Stamps Project (Canada) where I am creating relevant displays of stamps.
For more information on these labels take a look a the "JNF - Labels With A Purpose" video produced by The Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library https://youtu.be/9rJwehasAJs.
While Googling for the link I discovered (actually I should have remembered as I was a participant) that there is an existing StampoRama thread that discusses this particular label.
This would indicate that your label is much older than the early 1950s and is actually from 1901-1902

I am going to use this initial label to start a presentation piece for The Holocaust Stamps Project (Canada) and try to track down some more labels to add. I'm hoping there will be something available on eBay.
I'll provide an update in the next couple months if I make any progress.
Your 'Little Guy' is very similar to the first issues of the Jewish National Fund but is actually a 1927 issue.
It shows the roulettes of the original but is actually perforated, looking a bit like a stamp within a stamp.
They were issued in booklets in panes of 3x5. Perf 12.
Rochlin #A38.
it was one of the regular issues out of the JNF New York Office.
Dave,
I would be willing to send you a PDF version of the JNF Handbook to assist you in your project endeavor.
I would appreciate any color scans of JNF items as I am in the process of replacing the black & white images in the handbook wit color ones.
Gary
This is not a JNF-KKL Stamp, but a label issued by someone else.
I have produced a CD Catalogue showing all JNF-KKL stamps issued from the very first, both in Palestine/Israel and abroad.
Anyone interested can contact me at phillipo?@012.net.il
Hi Phillipo,
I have the Kaplove Catalogue of JNF stamps issued in 1973. This shows this item as issued in 1927 by the US local office - New York. It is assigned catalogue #A38, which is the same as the Rochlin number given by londonbus1 earlier in this thread.
The picture in the Kaplove Catalogue is very small, however, so I could be mistaken.
Clive
