As I’m making my coffee, I ask Alexa:
“Alexa, tell me something important that happened today in history.”
Alexa said “An apocryphal story is that on July 4th 1776, King George wrote in his journal “nothing important happened today.”

Of course, KG3 could not have known what happened for about three weeks.

re: Historical tidbit

Even more interesting is that Alexa confused November 12 with July 4!

As for today (to help Alexa out) ....

Stan Lee died last year
Dan Marino breaks Fran Tarkenton's all time NFL yardage record (1995)
Salmon discovered in the River Thames for the first time in 110 years (1974)
Ellis Island immigration station closed (1954)
Trotsky expelled from the Soviet Communist Party (1927)
Emperor Karl abdicates as Emperor of Austria-Hungary (1918)

... among many,many other things.
