Generating a bazillion unique email accounts to avoid spamming will certainly work, but eliminating the problem at the source would be better for everyone. How about Prosecuting selling private information illegally? Make it unprofitable.
Just curious, do you keep all those unique email accounts or do you only use them to register then close the account? Do you keep a list and then check them to see if you were spammed? If you do catch a business selling your info, do you report them?

I was not describing my own practice ... I use an eMail service with a, duh, working spam filter ... so, I am completely unaware of any changes in the volume of spam coming my way. Ever.
Instead, I was describing how difficult it would be to be certain which vendor had sold the eMail address, because deciding that a recent burst of spam was the fault of a single vendor, and naming that vendor in a public forum is, respectively, simplistic & improper.
But, actually, come to think of it, back when I had my own domain, all of the eMail to "unknown" addresses at that domain was dumped to a single mailbox, so I could (and frequently did) use different eMail addresses for different eMail subscriptions, different logins, different activities, etc.
Then, one day, without notice, the company hosting my website decided to bounce (instead of deliver) all of the eMail to "unknown" addresses, so I had to search my eMail, and find all of those dummy addresses, and create mailboxes for them ... so that their mail could be forwarded to a single mailbox.
Anyway, Target should not have been named & shamed. nlroberts1961's eMail address could have been put on any of a thousand lists ages ago, and could have been put to use by any of a thousand spammers just last week.
https://haveibeenpwned.com/ ... Have I Been Pawned will tell you how many times your eMail address has been compromised in a data breach ... you can also, if you have the stomach for it, check to see if passwords have been compromised but, of course, you should change them before you check them.
Cheers,

Here is the report for the eMail address nlroberts1961 uses here at SOR:
"Breaches you were pwned in
A "breach" is an incident where data has been unintentionally exposed to the public. Using the 1Password password manager helps you ensure all your passwords are strong and unique such that a breach of one service doesn't put your other services at risk.
CafePress: In February 2019, the custom merchandise retailer CafePress suffered a data breach. The exposed data included 23 million unique email addresses with some records also containing names, physical addresses, phone numbers and passwords stored as SHA-1 hashes. The data was provided to HIBP by a source who requested it be attributed to "JimScott.Sec@protonmail.com".
Compromised data: Email addresses, Names, Passwords, Phone numbers, Physical addresses
MyFitnessPal: In February 2018, the diet and exercise service MyFitnessPal suffered a data breach. The incident exposed 144 million unique email addresses alongside usernames, IP addresses and passwords stored as SHA-1 and bcrypt hashes (the former for earlier accounts, the latter for newer accounts). In 2019, the data appeared listed for sale on a dark web marketplace (along with several other large breaches) and subsequently began circulating more broadly. The data was provided to HIBP by a source who requested it to be attributed to "BenjaminBlue@exploit.im".
Compromised data: Email addresses, IP addresses, Passwords, Usernames"

The email you have so nicely scanned and posted everywhere much like target is not the one in question. Anyway that is the last of my posting to this thread. Not getting into a mud slinging contest. Also removing my email and if anyone needs to know it they can ask. &
