10/10/2019 my husbands mom passed away at 92 after suffering from a number of aliments though she finally was done in by a spinal injury suffered in a fall because she would not quit wandering about. Kudos to her. She always hated being in a care home but due to severe alzheimer's it was all that could be done. She was postmistress of the O'Donnell's post office in Newfoundland until its closure in 1969. Before her management it had been run by her sisters Marian and Sadie dating back to when it was the Mussel Pond office, closed in the 1930's according to what the catalogs say. According to the folks who lived there it never closed. In the background you see Colinet island, home of another rare post office, Regina, later Regina Ville. This was one of her favorite songs (+ danny boy). I tried to post the link but it defies me. copy and paste irish Descendants - let me fish off cape st marys
May you always dance, Theresa and Paddy Hanlon

I am sorry, Nancy. Reading your piece leads me to believe she lived life on her terms throughout and likely left only because she was ready to do so. Still, for those of us left behind, it's not always easy.
