Author Postings BWSchulz 06 Sep 2019 04:42:36pmI know what the German language shade designations mean. I'm having trouble distinguishing between them. Is there a simple guide to the shades of the 1880 ten pfennig stamp? Login to Like this post gerom 07 Sep 2019 01:32:29amre: Michel 41 Shades It is in german:" philhaha.de/druck.pdf"

I have a problem with the colors in the Michel catalogs. For some reason they keep changing the name of the colors, please don´t ask me why. Below is a example taken from "Michel Spezial 1993", 2006 and "Michel Deutschland 2016/2017".
Both middle red
Carmine red, brownish Carmine
Blackish pink, Dark pink red
And this one is from the "Philex Deutschland 1982/83". It uses the Michel system.
Both Carmine
Take your choice.

The "STAATSDRUCKEREI IM WIEN" was experimenting with 5 different color for those stamps.
I have seen those 5 different colors of the serie 909/910.
Maybe is that the reason why the Michel catalog has mentioned different colors in the timeperiod of about 20 years?
rot, braunrot, rosakarmin, dunkelrosarot and schwärzlichrosa are the colors they use nowadays in their catalog.
P.S.
You can not use the colors from a computer program!!!!!!!
