"Hi Bob. Hop in!" Those were the words spoken by a middle-aged woman who was driving a car. She had slowed and pulled over to the curb, and lowered the window on the passenger side when she saw me.

I had never seen this woman before. This is how the conversation went:

Me: "Hop in? What do you mean?'

She: "You're Bob, aren't you?"

Me: "Yes, I am."

She: "Well, get in. What are you waiting for?'

Me: "Who are you? Why should I get into your car?"

She: "You're said you needed a ride, and that you'd be at this corner. I'm here to give you a ride."

Me: "I didn't call anyone to ask for a ride."

She: "But, you are Bob. You said so. What do you mean, you don't need a ride? You told me you were an older man, and that you'd be using a cane. You're using a cane. Are you sure you didn't ask for a ride?"

Me: "I'm sure. I can assure you that I didn't ask anyone for a ride!"

She: "Oh. Well, I guess you aren't the Bob I'm looking for."

Me: "That's right."

It was finally dawned on her that I was not the Bob I was supposed to be. She apologized, and I assured her that I wasn't offended." Before she drove away slowly, obviously hoping to see the right Bob, she said, laughing,"Well, thank you for not getting in and abducting me!"

Bob (the wrong Bob!)
