I still have more questions than answers 19 Aug 2019 04:02:17pm
I got this in a box lot of Canadian covers. I can't say that I have seen this type of cancel before, but then again I don't collect United Nations Postal History. There is no stamp. Is this some type of military free franking? I have scanned the front and the back.

re: What is a United Nations Emergency Force Cover?
I could be totally wrong, but wasn't a lot of Military Mail free of charge - I think in Canada if you write to certain government officials there is no stamp needed. Also if you check Mr. Google the UNEF was set up in 1946 after the Suez Crisis and it's history is covered.

FIRST UNITED NATIONS EMERGENCY FORCE
UNEF I (November 1956 - June 1967)
UNEF I was established to secure and supervise the cessation of hostilities, including the withdrawal of the armed forces of France, Israel and the United Kingdom from Egyptian territory and, after the withdrawal, to serve as a buffer between the Egyptian and Israeli forces.

A nice Canadian military cover. If I had spotted this in a box, I would have gone for it too because the CAFME return address (Canadian Armed Forces Middle East). Canadian military covers are one of my main interests.
A nice find
