Good day to everybody. Just introducing myself, thought it's the proper thing to do. I am going to be posting numerous pics, looking for any feedback anyone might have concerning the value of my stamps. All of my collection is for sale at a fair price. As long as both parties walk away happy it was a good deal..so have a great and prosperous day!! thanks

Auctions - Approvals
re: Second post on stamporama

Hi Douglas,
If sales is what you're after, get yourself a recent catalogue, figure out a percentage of the c.v. you are happy with and start creating approval books or auctions. My experience is that one should not aim too high. Unless you have more interesting stamps (c.v. > $2 for instance) just sell them for 10c (or perhaps 20c if they are above $1) and you'll sell. Even for more expensive stamps it will be difficult to fetch more than 50% of c.v. Only if it is very popular or in excellent condition, you'd be able to get more.

Anyway, good luck and have fun!

I would second the suggestion to get a catalog to help identify stamps. However, you need to treat catalogue prices as relative value (vs other stamps) and not actual value. In collecting, condition is also very important and proper identification is key for the look a like issues.

re: Second post on stamporama

Hi Webb,

if you're looking for information on your collection to help improve your enjoyment of it, I think catalogues are a useful tool, esp as they allow us all to use a common language when discussing this stamp or that. Let us know if that's the case.

If you're looking to dispose of a collection, we can help you there, too. I got the feeling that latter was the real goal.

Either way, if you want help, help us understand what you want to do.

and welcome

David

re: Second post on stamporama

Thanks for the welcome.as soon as I figure out how to get my pictures within the limits to upload them. I would love some feedback. I have had a collection for twenty years, but recently got the stamp bug. Now that's all I do in my spare time. Research and estate sales. It's amazing what people will do with there deceased relatives belongings. Be back as soon as I figure out the pic thing. Thanks again
