Some people do collect earliest known usage of stamps. You might want to check with the First Day Cover Society to see what the earliest known usage date for this stamp is. If this is not the earliest know use, then it would probably not hold that much value, but would hold more (not sure how much with modern stamps) if it is.
I have several of these on commercial covers sent from a business in Alice Springs to the company I worked for in Adelaide ( I used to get all the mail ) some up to a week before the official release date.

As I travel around the state of NJ seeking postmarks, it's not uncommon to get off dated cancels. On a number of occasions I've received postmarks for the day before. The worst in memory was about a week old. Seems they don't use the hand stamps a lot these days.
