I have just received a postcard type mailing postmarked April 11th 1987. It is celebrating the canal boat *Seneca Chief* circa 1890. I am seeking information. Were there more than one canal boats by that name.? One of my sources refers to the Erie canal, and another refers to Seneca lake. Can a member add information to clear up my confusion?

re: Canal Boat Mail *SENECA CHIEF*

I believe you have 2 Seneca Chiefs
One built for the Erie Canal in 1832 and one for the Finger Lakes (Seneca Lake) in 1827
