Dear Tim, I wasn't precise enough. I had done that previously, but as a seller not a buyer, I wasn't able to mark the invoice paid. What am I still not doing correctly? Dumb, dumb Dan
OK, sorry Dan, At the moment I have it setup so that the Buyer is the one who would mark the invoice as paid, not the seller. What would be the situation where you would want to as the seller, mark the invoice as paid? I would think that once you have the money from the buyer and had sent the stamps in the mail, that you would set the invoice status to "closed" to indicate that you are finished with it. Is there an extra step that you feel is needed? I'm open to enhancements that would make it work better for everyone.
Tim, question, why is it important to have files on/in the SOR web site. Cant people keep their own records and accounting stuff in files of their own,in their personal computer,,or even a paper trail file. I recieve auction win notice, reply acknowledgement of win, recieve an invoice from seller, and sometimes an email saying payment sent,or payment recieved/stamps recieved--all by email, and export all those emails to a file marked Stamps/SOR (and others). All there for me to examine for whatever purpose. Why do/would I want my financial files posted in/on SOR????? I can even access these files off line. Not so if filed in/on SOR. My mind might work differently, but I wonder why someone would want others to keep track of their business. Hey membership,,I got an idea,,lets have TIM do the work.We send all info to him and he sorts it out, records it under individual memberships, keeps track of all transactions, notifies those of not recieved materials and not recieved payments, complaints and reolutions, yada yada yada,,,,, well you get the idea. That way we have more time to ourselves and Tim has his hands full and no time left to solve our petty problems. lol TOM
Hi Tom, Your point is completely valid. The whole invoicing function is completely optional as to whether you want to use it or not. The ability to mark an invoice as paid is just an enhancement to the invoicing system and is likewise optional as to whether you use it or not.
I would like to clarify one point. In using the "mark invoice as paid" facility, you are not broadcasting your financial information. The sharing of this information is only between you (the buyer) and the seller.
I developed this function for three reasons:
1. There wasn't a good way for the buyer to see a list of the invoices that he/she had been sent by sellers. 2. I was asked in an earlier thread to develop something like this 3. I thought it would be useful for me to help me track the invoices that I have received and to make sure that I pay them all.
Dear Tom & Tim, This is my error- I misunderstood what Tim had been saying, and thought that as a seller I could also mark the invoice as "paid". Basically I was just trying to get with the program, and certainly I do not want to have Tim make any adjustments at all on the basis of what I said. Tom, you're quite right-there's little need for the additional bookkeeping on the sellers part beyond what we are already doing. Guys, remember that I still work with stone tablets!! Once again you see the problem that Perry had with me-that's why I got replaced. Now if I could only find another string for the tin cans for my telephone!! All good thoughts, and apologies for the distractions. Stone Age Dan

Dan. You were not replaced due to lack of knowledge over computer skills .... YOU'RE JUST TOO OLD TO ??? .... ha! ha! .... Did I mention my Teenie Booper is more knowledgeable than myself? And yes I was there when God etched those original tablets too, so ...... Perry
This site has come a long waaaaaayyyyy from its original offerings and all for the good of stamp collecting. Dani20 and I used to do a lot of auction action stuff long ago and I'm amazed how far the improvements have gone since I've been away from it. Our founder is sure smiling down at us and sees how extraordinary things have progressed.
