Hi Pooh

it would be impossible as there are many types of penny O.S. stamps. There are large and small type O.S. both punctured (pin holes) and the overprint O.S.

Then there is the watermark, small and large watermarks, different type crowns in the watermark, inverted watermarks and no watermarks (the stamps without watermark, even if it is used and with a tear is extremely rare and can be sold anywhere between $10,000 and $20,000.

And then there is the different colour shades, it's an impossible task without the image, uploading the image in the middle of next week is okay.

All state stamps of various low face value issued under colonial rule had O.S (Official Service) either punctured on the stamp or overprinted. These were issued by government officials. If you have a stamp from Victoria it is a colonial stamp.

When the colonies were dissolved under the new Commonwealth that became official on January 1, 1901, we should have been using Commonwealth stamps (all new states using the same stamp, but because of constant in-house fighting in the new Federal Parliament, Australia, although now a Commonwealth were still using colonial stamps until 1913.

All colonial stamps though becoming redundant was still legally used until decimalisation (February 14, 1966).

The O.S stamps was another matter, and I believe that no O.S. stamps were issued during the reign of KGVI and QEII, though the introduction of OHMS (On His/Her Majesty's Service) envelopes with regular stamps affixed/embossed were used until the 1970s.
